I think all creatures have an innate knowledge of who they are,and where it is they belong.
We may test the waters elsewhere,imagining ourselves a teen queen,a ruthless ruler,a fashion icon,when really all we are is a transfer student in donated jeans who never really fit in anywhere,not even with the artist,who let's be honest,will take just about anybody.
Or we may want desperately to be accepted somewhere,anywhere that we play at being a delinquent,an artist,an athlete,when really what we are is a girl who has been persecuted for the unavoidable sins of popularity .
I realize now that I have always known who I am,even when I was wearing overalls,eating cheetos,and not showering.
And I have always known my affirmation,my true,simple,perfect affirmation that needs no accoutrements to be true,just like I needed no accoutrements to be truly popular.
